Reading to Pets is Educational and Fun!

Reading is important to the growth of children and how it affects their development and education. The cause and effect of reading improves language skills and learning abilities. For example, the more a child uses phonics to test new words, the more he or she reads. The more he or she reads, the more is learned. Reading provides opportunities for physical development as well. Simply turning the pages of a book aids in fine tuning motor skills. It stimulates the muscles of the eyes and affects chemistry of the body too, by utilizing the brain. It also has an effect on senses such as sight, sound, touch, and smell.

To take it a step further, reading with pets is a great way to improve a child’s reading skills. Children can gain self-confidence by reading to pets in a relaxed, non-judgmental and encouraging environment with trained pet teams. The All Ears Reading™ book, Banjo gets a B-A-T-H, was created specifically with these child development variables in mind to help children enhance their literacy and build bonds with their pets.

Companion animals help people of all ages learn responsibility, loyalty, empathy, sharing, and unconditional love—qualities essential for healthy development in children and adults. Dogs and cats are natural educators and children may learn to care for their fellow human beings by starting with companion animals.
